Do I have a plan? No, I just plan to work on my cardio." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR EMMA STONE SAYING: "I have a plan." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR WOODY HARRELSON SAYING: "What's yours?" (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR EMMA STONE SAYING: "It's very straightforward and I don't know why we haven't talked about this enough, but you get on a boat. You have to get on a boat. Because if you have the people that you love with you on a boat, I mean it might be hard to live at sea, but you can figure out something from there where at least you're not, you know, going to get attacked from any angle." Like usually in comedies you have kind of one or the other. Somethings like highbrow and, you know, alienates people or low brow and alienates another group. But this somehow marries both of those two things so well." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR EMMA STONE SAYING: "I have had red meat like once or twice, but I shouldn't anymore. I mean truly in all honestly the best thing you could possibly do for the environment is to be vegan. So, I think it is pretty crazy if you can handle it. It's an amazing thing to do." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR ABIGAIL BRESLIN SAYING: "I did cut cream on my coffee in the morning." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR EMMA STONE SAYING: "Nice Abby. It's the little things isn't it. You've got to start somewhere." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR ZOEY DEUTCH SAYING: (ON WOODY'S VEGAN LIFESTYLE INFLUENCE ON SET) "No plastic." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR ROSARIO DAWSON SAYING: "Yeah. And he'd have us exercising regularly." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTRESS ZOEY DEUTCH SAYING: "The dolly tracks, no one can use - for cameras, you have to use sometimes WD-40 to, I think, right, to like get the not making loud squeaky noise. And he - it has to be like coconut oil. Which was great, everybody benefits from that." (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTRESS ROSARIO DAWSON SAYING: "But it was just kind of nice because you're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and fighting and doing all this crazy stuff and feeling really nurtured and cared for and loved. And across the board like the whole set felt like that and that was really powerful." The worst is when you see a sequel to something that was really beloved and it doesn't live up to it. So, hopefully this one does and we really definitely fought hard for a long time." EISENBERG SPEAKING TO REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) ACTOR JESSE EISENBERG SAYING: (ON DID HE THINK A SEQUEL WOULD EVER GET MADE) "No, not after a few years I thought, no there's not going to… because there was a there was one point about five years ago where they had a script that the movie studio really liked but the actors felt like, it doesn't feel like the same movie. It felt like a different personality. And so, at that point I thought it's, it's dead and then, like a zombie, you know - I should have thought of that earlier before the press junket started. But yeah kind of reemerged." SCREENWRITERS RHETT REESE AND PAUL WERNICK SPEAKING TO REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) SCREENWRITER PAUL WERNICK SAYING: (ON WHAT THEY FOCUSED ON WHEN WRITING THE SCRIPT) "The heart. That's kind of the secret sauce. It's, you make people laugh, you scare him a little bit, but you want to make him feel. And, you know, this is really a story about this family and the family's love for one another. And that I feel like is the thing we try and pay most attention to." - Story Text: After ten years the cast of Zombieland has returned for the sequel, "Zombieland: Double Tap."
Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin celebrated the film's opening with a red carpet premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday (October 10).
Before filming, the cast had a chance to bond and reconnect during weapons and stunt training.
"We kind of eased into having to be around each other again. You know, being forced to be in each other's vicinity again. As you can imagine it's tough," joked Stone.
Helping in the fight against zombies this time around are Zoey Deutch and Rosario Dawson who hit the carpet with her boyfriend, U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker.
The story centers on the 4 characters as they fight a new and more powerful zombie while trying to maintain their family dynamic. The writers said at the center of all the drama, comedy, action and romance is heart.
"You make people laugh, you scare him a little bit, but you want to make him feel. And, you know, this is really a story about this family and the family's love for one another. And that I feel like is the thing we try and pay most attention to," said Paul Wernick.
While filming, the cast said Woody Harrelson strict vegan lifestyle was a positive influence on set.
"It was just kind of nice because you're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and fighting and doing all this crazy stuff and feeling really nurtured and cared for and loved. And across the board like the whole set felt like that and that was really powerful," said Dawson.
Stone and Breslin have begun to make small dietary changes because of Harrelson.
"I have had red meat like once or twice, but I shouldn't anymore. I mean truly in all honestly the best thing you could possibly do for the environment is to be vegan," said Stone.
"I did cut cream on my coffee in the morning," added Breslin receiving a fist bump from Harrelson.
