It's more simple, more compact, it's smaller and lighter and with more than one function. So, it works as a typewriter and you enter information on the keyboard, after clicking or entering the data, they are sent to the machine and it begins printing in Braille for you. So, you don't necessarily need to know Braille. This will really help people; teachers for example." - Story Text: Need to print in Braille? Thanks to Brazilian university student Bruna da Silva Cruz you can type, text or talk and her compact printer will quickly print out your message in the tactile writing system used by visually impaired people.
Da Silva Cruz began developing her prototype printer, which she calls Fast Braille when she was only 19 years old according to local media.
Compared to existing printers "it's more simple, more compact, it's smaller and lighter and with more than one function," says Da Cruz Silva.
Da Silva Cruz' printer brought her a second place prize at Brazil's Young Scientist 2019 awards.
