- Story Text: A fire reignited at the site of a chemical blast on Saturday (August 15) two days explosions ripped through China's eastern port city of Tianjin.
The fire started amid a group of already burned out cars in an abandoned parking lot near the blast site lot at around 11 a.m. local time (0300 GMT) and continued to grow in intensity.
According to Reuters reporters, police evacuated people from an two to three kilometres area shortly after the new fire started.
Authorities have yet to identify the cause of the new fire.
As of Saturday, the official death toll remained at 85, the officials said.
Shockwaves from the blasts late on Wednesday (August 13) were felt by residents in apartment blocks kilometres away in the city of 15 million people.
China on Friday (August 14) defended fire fighters who initially hosed water on a blaze in a warehouse storing volatile chemicals, a response foreign experts said could have contributed to the explosions. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
