  • Story Text: About 4,000 South Korean people on Saturday (August 15) performed a flash mob dance and held up a large national flag in Seoul to commemorate the 70th Liberation Day.
    Some participants playing the role of former independence activist during the Japanese colonial rule, Ryu Gwan-sun, put on traditional Korean costumes to remember the Liberation Day.
    "As marking the 70th anniversary of the Korea's liberation from Japan, this year is more special than other years. Therefore, we have planned this event to mark August 15 and enjoy together," an organiser and Mayor of Songpa-gu Office, Park Chun-hee said.
    "It was a meaningful and enjoyable event marking the 70th anniversary of the Korea's liberation from Japan. I was so happy and enjoyed the most when I said 'hurray'," said 18-year-old participant Kim Do-won.
    "I am very honoured to play the role of Ryu Gwan-sun. This event was an opportunity for me to think about the meaning of Korea's Liberation Day," said 19-year-old participant Kang Chae-young.
    August 15, the 70th anniversary of Korean Liberation Day, marks the end of Japanese colonial rule, which lasted from 1910 to 1945. It is also the day Japan commemorates the end of World War Two.
