- Story Text: Top K-pop stars, including EXO, Girls' Generation, SHINee and f(x), hit the red carpet on Tuesday (August 4) in Seoul to promote their new documentary film "SMTOWN THE STAGE".
"I thought it would be meaningful to come to this event before the movie "SMTown the Stage" is released. I saw the movie earlier yesterday and I felt something from deep inside of me," said Jonghyun, a member of K-pop boy band SHINee, at the event.
The film contains previous performances by KANGTA, BoA, TVXQ!, Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, f(x), EXO and Red Velvet from SM Entertainment in Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai.
SM Entertainment is one of the most popular management firms in South Korea and has spawned several K-pop bands who have churned out hit after hit across Asia and even parts of Europe. The artists often undergo careful grooming and rigorous training.
K-pop has made its mark not only in Asia but also internationally in recent years, with Korean cinema and television growing in popularity in the region, a phenomenon known as "Hallyu", or the Korean cultural wave.
The film "SMTOWN THE STAGE" is scheduled to be released in South Korea on August 13 and in Japan on August 29. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
