- Story Text: Bayern Munich held an open training session on Monday (August 10), as they prepared for their 2015-2016 Bundesliga season opener.
The defending champions play their first match on August 14 away to Hamburg SV. The stakes are high for Bayern Munich as they could become the first team in history to garner four consecutive titles in the history of the Bundesliga.
Bayern have already started the season as they mean to go on, with a 3-1 win over fifth-tier side FC Noettingen in the German Cup on Sunday (August 9).
New players, Chilean Arturo Vidal and Brazilian Douglas Costa were both on point, Vidal netting the game's first goal. While Costa, signed from Ukrainian side Shaktar Donetsk this summer, also put in a good performance and is the favourite to replace French winger Franck Ribery in the future.
"Costa, everybody's excited about him," said fan Daniel Hamann. "I also really like Vidal until now."
Despite the prospect of making Bundesliga history, many fans watching practice on Monday had even higher hopes. They'd like to see Bayern Munich take home the ultimate prize, the UEFA Champions League trophy, which they last won in the 2012-2013 season.
"We're extremely spoiled by success, one has to say that," said supporter Markus Aigner. "But the Champion's League title would be awesome, I would even say, we'd give away the Bundesliga title, but no. Bundesliga is compulsory, Champion's League would be something special."
Bayern and Hamburg SV's Bundesliga match kicks off at 2030 local (1830GMT) on Friday (August 14). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
