- Story Text: "Fantastic Four" stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan brought their new film to Brooklyn, New York on Tuesday (August 4) to celebrate the film's hotly anticipated opening.
The film, which is being called a "re-imaging of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team" follows the four as they adapt to their superpowers while trying to save the world from doom.
Mara's Sue Storm can make herself invisible while Jordan's Johnny Storm -- The Human Torch -- engulfs himself in flames. Teller takes on the role of Reed Richards before becoming Mister Fantastic.
"It's an origin story about characters that everyone knows and loves. And I think it's a chance to get to know them in a different way. Like really get to experience them before they have this crazy transition and they all become something different entirely. So that element I think is fun. Also just to see these characters back on the big screen, and it's been awhile, so I think that's going to be great too," said who will portray Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
This is the first "Fantastic Four" release since 2007 and the actors said they feel the pressure to deliver for the fans.
"Entering into a huge franchise there - you always have the hope of wanting the fans to love it because the fans are the reason the films are being made anyway," said Mara.
Bell knows the expectation for these types of films are big.
"People's opinions can be heard so loudly these days. It doesn't take much to get people's attention anymore. So we feel that for sure, we felt it the whole time we were making the movie. But I think ultimately the truth is we're all coming from the same place, we just want a good movie," said Bell who is the only actor out of the four to have seen the film before the night.
Before heading in, Jordan said he was both nervous and anxious.
"You leave everything out there on the set. I'm really curious to see the fan's reaction to it."
Jordan, a New Jersey native, came to the premiere with his home grown personal fan base, his parents.
"It feels amazing. They got me into the industry when I was small and they saw me grow from project to project over the years. So, it's just an honor."
Teller counted excitement and nervousness among his emotions.
"I think it's going to be fun. I'm all of those things you said. It's extremely uncomfortable for me and I think most actors to watch themselves."
