- Story Text: The family of Pablo Escobar, the Colombian drug kingpin and leader of the feared Medellin cartel, is going high tech and releasing an advanced smartphone with a foldable screen.
Esocbar Inc. is hoping to use the worldwide fame of the family's name to sell the Escobar Fold 1, which they say will hit markets in January 2020.
The Escobar Fold 1 will operate on Android and cost USD $349 in its most basic version with 128 gigabytes of memory and six gigabytes of RAM. Another version with 512 gigabytes of memory and eight gigabytes of RAM will also be released for USD $499.
Roberto Escobar Gaviria, 72, founded Escobar Inc. in 1984. He is Pablo Escobar's biological brother and turned himself in to authorities in 1992 and spent 12 years in prison for belonging to the Medellin cartel.
Pablo Escobar was killed in December 1993 in a joint Colombia-U.S. operation.
