- Story Text: Sharon Stone's love life took a downturn on Monday (December 30) after she reported being blocked on a dating app.
The "Basic Instinct" star, 61, tweeted on Sunday that she had gone on the Bumble dating app, only to discover "they closed my account" when some users "reported that it couldn't possibly be me."
The award-winning American actor said "don't shut me out of the hive".
A Bumble editorial employee replied to Stone's tweet, saying that her account had now been unblocked and that she could "get back to Bumbling!", adding "thanks for bearing with us and hope you find your honey."
The app is a social network "that allows you to feel empowered...whether you're dating, looking for friends, or growing your professional network", according to the company's website, adding that "Bumble could change your life".
Some Stone Twitter followers and hopeful suitors have offered to take her out, commenting on Stone being "back in the game". Others have questioned whether this was a publicity stunt by Bumble.
Stone got an Oscar nomination for appearing in Martin Scorsese's "Casino", winning the best actress Golden Globe in 1996 for her portrayal as socialite, showgirl and model Ginger. She is more widely known for playing sociopath novelist, Catherine Tramell, opposite Michael Douglas in 1992's "Basic Instinct", and reprising the role in the sequel in 2006. Stone famously crosses and uncrosses her legs while seated and being interrogated by police in the 1992 original, directed by Paul Verhoeven.
