- Story Text: A lawmaker of Spain's far-right Vox party on Thursday (January 2) criticised Mexico for protecting former Bolivian government officials in its La Paz embassy.
Members of Vox held a news conference in La Paz where they called for clarity on the issue. Last month, Spanish officials visited the Mexican embassy where nine people who were part of Former Bolivian President, Evo Morales, have taken asylum in the diplomatic headquarters.
Vox and EU lawmaker Hermann Tertsch also touted possible ties between those in the embassy and Spain's left-leaning government.
Invited by the Bolivian government, Tertsch met with members of the interim government in Bolivia and expressed his support for the Interim Bolivian President Jeanine Anez.
Last week, Bolivia's government expelled Mexican and Spanish diplomats, escalating the diplomatic dispute between the countries.
