During the game, Cesar Ramirez Montes and Santiago Rivera, together with Argentine Rogelio Funes Mori scored the goals that gave Monterrey the win.
Before the game, fans in the stadium enjoyed a colourful opening with a show of lights and fireworks.
"There is no comparison with any stadium in the country, I haven't seen those abroad but without comparison in the country. It's better than any of the others," Monterrey fan, Victor Manuel Gonzalez said.
Another fan, Alvaro Vela, said the stadium will add to the excitement of watching games here.
"The acoustics, the emotion will be very different. All teams who come and play with us will get nervous," said Vela.
Ramirez had just joined the game before his goal which was the first at the new stadium. The goal came when he beat goalkeeper Julio Cesar in the 49th minute with a header after a cross from Funes Mori. In the 58th minute, Funes Mori put the second goal for Monterrey after being awarded a penalty kick.
Rivera, who had only played on the pitch for a a few minutes, scored the third with a powerful header after the centre sent by Pablo Barrera.
Monterrey goalkeeper, Jonathan Orozco, was content with his team's performance on the special night.
"To have our own stadium, to have our own identity is a source of pride. It's something amazing, the stadium is beautiful and I think the team rose to the occasion with the great stadium we have. The team rose to the occasion and played well, performed well and was a worthy victor," said Orozco.
The capacity of the new stadium is 51,000. The club's previous stadium, Tecnologico Stadium, held about 35,000 people, according to Planet Benfica, the online soccer portal.
