  • Story Text: Hollywood actress and U.N. humanitarian envoy Angelina Jolie, and Myanmar's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, travelled to a township on the outskirts of Yangon to meet and talk with a group of women workers on Saturday (August 1).
    Jolie and Suu Kyi visited a small hostel in Hlaingthaya Township to meet a group of female factory workers in the western part of one of the country's biggest cities to find out about their living and working conditions.
    Jolie's visit to the country followed a personal invitation from Suu Kyi, the British embassy said in a news release, adding that the actress wanted to learn more from the people "about their concerns and hopes for the future of their country".
    Jolie, who arrived on Wednesday (July 29), is on a four-day visit to Myanmar as Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
