- Story Text: Sri Lankan politician and former international cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has visited the school in Pakistan where 140 people, mostly students, were killed in a Taliban attack last year.
Jayasuriya first met Pakistani Army Corps Commander Lieutenant-General Hidayat ur Rehman, then went to the Army Public School, where he laid a wreath and met pupils.
Jayasuriya said afterwards that the attack last December had saddened everyone in Sri Lanka and he had particularly wanted to bisit the school during his trip to Pakistan.
The Pakistanis were not allowed for six years to host international cricket after a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009 in which six policemen and a van driver were killed and some players and a local umpire were wounded.
In May this year, the Zimbabwe cricket team toured Pakistan.
The Pakistani cricket team is currently on tour in Sri Lanka. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
