- Story Text: New York Magazine has gathered 35 of comedian Bill Cosby's accusers for its latest issue for a story titled "Cosby: The Women An Unwelcomed Sisterhood."
The issue featured four rows of black and white photos of the women listed in chronological year order of their alleged sexual assault.
After the article was released on Sunday (July 26) the publication's Website went down. Some reports said the cause was because of high traffic, while one hacker claimed responsibly.
A Twitter message from the magazine read: "Our site is experiencing technical difficulties. We are aware of the issue, and working on a fix."
Cosby, who faces accusations he drugged and sexually assaulted women in incidents dating back years, described himself in a deposition from a decade ago as adept at picking up on cues about sex, according to a New York Times report.
The newspaper obtained the record of Cosby's testimony over four days in 2005 and 2006 with the former star of television's "The Cosby Show" providing descriptions of methods he used to pursue women and how he obtained Quaaludes.
He faces at least four civil lawsuits stemming from such allegations. Cosby has never been criminally charged.
However, in the court of public opinion Cosby is mainly guilty.
"I guess you can just add it to the list of rich and powerful people who have got away with things that they did in the past which have finally caught up with them. Now we just have to see if he has good lawyers who get him off. But as far as I'm concerned, yes, definitely I think he did it," said Sandy Mayalal.
New Yorker Anju Gonzalez said she was sad to hear about the allegations.
"I used to watch him on TV when I was a kid, so it's kind of sad to hear about it. And I know it's on the front of the magazine today. It's crazy how many people and there is probably more, it's terrible."
The mounting allegations are no shock to Brian Morales.
"I've been hearing that stuff for at least a decade. So for that to come out - I mean, Hannibal (Buress) was the one to bring that out. It's been big in the comedy world - like everyone knew about it, but no one actually paid attention to it. So, for it to come out now doesn't shock me as much as a lot of people."
But long time fan Mouctar Le Bon still needs more evidence.
"When I was young I liked the guy so much. Now, I see something different. I saw what. . . I need more proof, more proof, more proof, more proof."
And no matter how many women come forward New York tourist Mike Zaruba thinks it's a conspiracy for money.
"Honestly, that it's kind of a ploy or plot to get money out of him, that was my first reaction."
And even after seeing the cover Zaruba's thoughts remained the same.
Cosby's attorneys have consistently denied the accusations, which have left in tatters the career and public image of a once-revered entertainer best known for playing the lovable father figure Dr Cliff Huxtable on the hit TV comedy series "The Cosby Show" in the 1980s and '90s.
Cosby has said little in public about the scandal, telling ABC television in May that he did not wish to discuss allegations. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
