- Story Text: Indonesian President Joko Widodo ended his two-day state visit to Singapore on Wednesday (July 29) by having an orchid species named after him and his wife, Iriana.
Singapore is one of Indonesia's top investors in the region.
"Establishing a friendship does not need formal meetings or diplomatic meetings, but this way is very impressive - giving 'Iriana Jokowi' as a name for an orchid species - this is called flower diplomacy," Widodo said at the flower-naming ceremony at the city state's Botanical Gardens.
Widodo had met Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on the first day of the visit.
It was Widodo's first official visit to Singapore since he took office in October 2014. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
