  • Story Text: Belarussian capital Minsk hosted an international hot air balloon festival with dozens of participants from Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine, Poland and Russia.
    Hot air balloons took to the skies and flew 22 kilometers over the city in an attempt to set the world record for the largest number of balloons flying over the city simultaneously.
    After flying over Minsk the festival participants arrived at Borovaya airfield in the city's outskirts where they were greeted by hundreds of enthusiastic spectators.
    "It is my first time at such show. It is really great and interesting. So many people (are here). It is amazing!", said Eduard, the festival guest.
    "It's hard to describe. It is unusual and amazing. It is the first time I see something like this in Belarus. May be it did happen before but for me it is the first event like this," said Oleg, who also came to the air-field to see the show.
    Some festival guests brought their entire families to see the spectacular show.
    "Everyone liked it. My entire family is here. It is beautiful. I would like to try it, but will wait till I get lucky and can fly with my granddaughter," said Nikolay while granddaughter was sitting on his shoulders.
    It is the second time the hot air balloon festival called "70 Years of Peaceful Skies" is held in the Belarussian capital.
    This time 54 hot air balloons simultaneously ascended into the sky.
    The International Aeronautics Championship, helicopter races and an air show are also part of the festival's program.
