It's particularly difficult for me because I move around a lot normally. I find it hard to sit at home. Well, now the gym is closed, I go for little runs during the day. With the sun coming out and the blue sky, I can tell it's going to get harder and harder. Let's hope that this period isn't going to be as long as they seem to be implying. I hope." - Story Text:Under a brilliant blue sky, Parisians took advantage of the limited exercise permitted under government coronavirus restrictions on Tuesday (March 24).
Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced on Monday (March 23) that rules concerning sport were to be toughened up, with people allowed out for only an hour a day within a kilometre of their house.
Exercise is one of the few reasons people in France are allowed to leave their homes under measures to contain the virus, along with medical appointments, food shopping and travel to work.
"I find it hard to sit at home. Well, now the gym is closed, I go for little runs during the day. With the sun coming out and the blue sky, I can tell it's going to get harder and harder," technician Pierre-Yves Jean told Reuters on the Champs Elysees avenue.
