- Story Text: Baker Mohammed Al-Khatib has added some new wares to his shop in Khan Younis: a range of “coronavirus†cakes.
Khatib said on Wednesday (April 1) that the sweet treats in the shape of a child wearing a mask intended to raise awareness about precautions during the coronavirus outbreak.
The cakes are being sold between 10-30 NIS (3-8 USD) and are available in-store or for delivery, providing Khatib with a source of income during a time when many are trying not to venture out.
So far, 12 out of the 119 coronavirus cases confirmed in the Palestinian territories have been confirmed in the Gaza Strip.
Hospitals that were once overwhelmed by gunshot wounds and amputations are now gearing up for a very different challenge in a densely populated, coastal enclave of two million Palestinians, many living in refugee camps.
