  • Story Text: A policeman has been wounded after a homemade bomb exploded in Cairo's Heliopolis district on Thursday (July 16) security sources said.
    Security was heavy at the site following the attack with investigators making sure there were no other bombs there.
    Security sources said the policeman has been sent to hospital to receive medical attention.
    Attacks on security forces have increased since the ousting of President Mohamed Mursi following mass demonstrations against his rule in 2013.
    One policeman was killed after another bomb exploded on a bridge in Cairo on April 5. Two more officers and a civilian were injured in that attack.
