- Story Text: As eurozone leaders at an emergency summit in Brussels were to reconvene in full session early on Monday (July 13) to discuss a compromise proposal on a third bailout for Greece, people on the streets of Cologne were hoping for a solution.
"There is something wrong with the basics and they need to be solved first before it can work out," said passer-by Bernhard Pointner when asked about his views on Greece.
Dietlinde Schreiderherrn was of the opinion that both Athens and the Europeans were to blame for the "back and forth," as she put it.
"I am a supporter of Europe and I find it too bad that it might break apart because of money," she said.
One man who did not give his name simply said "it will continue one way or another."
Germany's private N24 news channel led its 7 a.m. (0500 GMT) bulletin with the headline "night of decision," pointing out that the meeting in Brussels of EU leaders discussion Greece was entering its fifteenth hour.
As the talks continued, the head of the European Parliament Martin Schulz told German radio that an idea floated by the German Finance Ministry for Greece to temporarily exit the euro was "off the table." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
