As Iran and six world powers appeared close to a nuclear agreement on Monday (July 13), Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again voiced his opposition to any potential deal.
He said the six world powers appeared to be willing to strike an agreement at any price.
"If even after theses unequivocal calls for (the) destruction (of Israel and America), the negotiators' concessions continue, it would appear that there are those who are willing to make a deal at any price - and there is no way nor will to avoid this bad deal," Netanyahu told a meeting of his Likud faction.
He said Israel was committed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
"Our commitment is to prevent Iran from attaining nuclear weaponry and this remains in force today more than ever. I call on whoever holds the security of Israel dear to unite behind this commitment," he said.
Six world powers and Tehran were in talks in Vienna to seal an agreement by midnight to give Tehran sanctions relief in exchange for limits on its nuclear programme.
The Western powers in particular suspect Iran may have sought to use its civil nuclear programme as a cover to develop a nuclear weapons capability. Iran says the programme is solely for peaceful purposes.
As the talks gathered pace, Netanyahu also stepped up his lobbying against the expected Iran nuclear deal.
The Israeli Prime Minister turned to the Iranian public with a new Farsi-language Twitter account.
An Israeli official said Netanyahu aimed to persuade ordinary Iranians that they stood to lose from the deal because "the the more the regime feels strong and impervious to foreign pressure, the more it increases domestic oppression".
Not a party to the six-power negotiations with Iran, Israel has tried with little effect to get the terms imposed on its arch-foe toughened up.
Tweets posted on Netanyahu's new account, @IsraeliPM_Farsi, restated his argument that such a deal would "pave the way for Iran to get nuclear bombs and billions of dollars for terrorism", and that the Iranian leadership should not be engaged diplomatically while it orchestrates anti-U.S. "hate marches" on the streets of Tehran.
Some Farsi-speaking Twitter users were unimpressed.
One spotted a syntax error in the account.
Another suggested Netanyahu might be better off "explaining with a crude cartoon" - a reference to a cartoon bomb the Israeli prime minister held up during a U.N. speech in 2012 on Iran's nuclear programme. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
