- Story Text: Hundreds of fans filled the halls of the San Diego Convention Center on Friday (July 10) to get a glimpse of the cast of popular television shows "Games of Thrones" and "The Walking Dead."
"It's a chance for the fans to interact with their favorite shows, it's great for the cast and it's great for the fans," said actress Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell on the HBO series "Game of Thrones", of the Comic-Con experience.
"It's one of the very rare chances we get to connect with the fans and they show so much passion and they can't help but spur us on to create the best show that we can next time," said John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly in the "Game of Thrones" series.
Dormer, Bradley, Hannah Murray and Alfie Allen were among the actors greeting fans and signing autographs.
"Game of Thrones," based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books by George R.R. Martin, has become HBO's most-watched series, with 20 million viewers tuning into season 5 this year across HBO's TV and on-demand platforms.
In the past season that concluded last month, fans saw the leaders of the realms of the mythical Westeros continue fighting wars for the Iron Throne, with shocking moments including a brutal rape, burning a child, the rise of the zombie-like army of White Walkers and a fire-breathing dragon.
"Game of Thrones" concluded the fifth season with the death of one of its leading characters, Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington.
The cast of popular AMC network hit zombie drama "The Walking Dead" took selfies with fans during a meet and greet.
The show, which started in 2010, is based on a comic book series by the same name, "The Walking Dead" follows a sheriff's deputy as he tries to save survivors from flesh-eating zombies.
The San Diego Comic-Con convention draws more than 100,000 people to San Diego annually and runs until Sunday July 12. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
