  • Story Text: German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday (July 9) met with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic in Belgrade as her visit to the country drew to an end.
    Nikolic reportedly asked for support for the opening of chapters in the process of European integration and expressed satisfaction with extremely good bilateral relations between Serbia and Germany, especially in terms of economic cooperation.
    Merkel arrived in Belgrade on Wednesday (July 8) ,where she had a meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. Merkel assured Serbian prime minister Vucic and other Balkan states that there would be no artificial delays on their drive to join the European Union.
    Merkel will continue her visit to the Western Balkans with a trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday (July 9).
