  • Story Text: Pope Francis arrived in the Bolivian town of Santa Cruz on Wednesday (July 8) after meeting with the country's President Evo Morales.
    During his meeting in the Bolivian capital of La Paz the pope looked bemused when Morales handed him one of the more unusual gifts he has received: a wooden hammer and sickle - the symbol of communism - with a figure of a crucified Christ resting on the hammer.
    But there certainly seemed to be know hard feelings as Morales met the pope's plane as it touched down in the evening. A smiling pope and Morales walked up the red carpet to a waiting car in order to whisk Pope Francis away for a well deserved rest.
    On Thursday the pontiff will hold a mass for hundreds of thousands of people in Santa Cruz.
