  • Story Text: Lebanese designer Elie Saab gave his audience a blast from the past by bringing by designs from his earliest collections that brought him fame, in his Autumn/Winter 2016 Haute Couture range at Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday (July 8).
    Saab presented classy pieces of incredible craftsmanship, inspired by those original dresses that established his brand on the global fashion stage.
    Gold was the recurrent colour in the collection, as embroidery in antique gold mixed with delicate green, pink and light blue adorned long flowing dresses.
    No two patterns were alike -- they recreated geometry in the forms of vines and foliage.
    Dresses were mainly long with open-backs, material varied from printed silk organza, to lace, to mink for collars and metal for straps on the shoulders.
    Beadwork and lace applied on the dresses' surfaces gave them a tridimensional effect and sumptuous elegance.
    The pieces appeared nonetheless as light, delicate and fluid.
    Golden laurels were woven into the hair and decorated wrists and ears as fine bijoux gave a fairy-tale-like and princely touch to the collection.
