  • Story Text: The Athens stock exchange will remain closed until Wednesday (July 8), the Greek Capital Markets Commission said, in line with the closure of the country's banks as Greece races to avert bankruptcy.
    Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was attending an emergency eurozone summit in Brussels on Tuesday (July 7) in a last-ditch effort to secure a cash-for-reforms deal to keep Greece in the eurozone.
    Tsipras is expected to present new proposals under pressure from European leaders to come up with credible ideas as his country's banks face potential meltdown.
    With Greek lenders down to their last few days of cash and the European Central Bank tightening the noose on their funding, Tsipras must persuade the bloc's other 18 leaders to open negotiations fast on a new loan to rescue the country.
