- Story Text: Poland on Sunday (July 5) began to feel the brunt of a heat wave moving through Europe of this summer.
Temperatures rose to about 36 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country and put thousands of people in search of somewhere to cool off.
Downtown Warsaw emptied and ponds in parks filled with residents looking for a break from the heat. While some sought relief from the heat, others made the most of it and sunbathed.
Plenty of fountains and ponds turned into swimming pools for Warsaw's residents and their pets, despite the formal restrictions.
Authorities set up water curtains in places frequented by tourists and residents.
In rural Poland, farm animals took a dip in a river together with people. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
