  • Story Text: Lukas Podolski, currently at Arsenal and a World Cup winner with the German national team, will join Istanbul team Galatasaray on Saturday (July 4), the club has announced on its website.
    Podolski was recruited by Arsenal from FC Cologne in 2012, after an unsuccessful attempt by Galatasaray to sign the striker.
    Early success at Arsenal tailed off as manager Arsene Wenger added other players to the North London club's roster, and Podolski found he was not being picked regularly for matches.
    He went to Inter Milan on loan in January of 2015 but was due to return to Arsenal for the new season with a year remaining to run on his contract.
    Media reports were published on Friday (July 3) that Turkish champions Galatasaray were in advanced negotiations to sign Podolski depending on personal terms and medical reports being satisfactory.
