- Story Text: The U.S. women's national soccer team put in a late morning training session Friday (July 3) ahead of their World Cup final rematch with Japan.
The U.S. women have not won soccer's top prize since 1999 and this match is all about avenging their loss to Japan in the 2011 World Cup final where they fell on penalties after the game finished 2-2 after extra time.
The team appeared to be in high spirits as they worked through the training session, most likely the continued euphoria after knocking out top ranked Germany 2-0 in a hard fought semi-final that followed knockout round victories over Colombia and China.
The U.S. players will also enjoy a home field atmosphere in Sunday's final with thousands of U.S. soccer fans streaming into Vancouver. Many more are also expected to watch across the United States in homes, bars and giant screens set up in public places. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
