- Story Text: Five Houthis killed in a car bombing claimed by Islamic State's Yemen branch earlier this week were laid to rest on Wednesday (July 22) in the capital Sanaa.
The five men were killed on Monday (July 20) in a car blast outside the Mueed mosque where the home of a Houthi leader is also located.
"We came for the funeral of the martyrs who were killed in the criminal explosion outside of the Mueed mosque," said Taha Tabib, the son of one of the victims.
"We will give many martyrs, I have already given my brother and father, and we will offer convoys of martyrs. Their bombs and their planes will not scare us away," he added.
At least seven other people were wounded in the blast.
The Houthis are pushing for more rights for Yemen's Zaydi Shi'te Muslims, regarded as heretics by the militant Sunni Islamic State.
The war in Yemen has pitted Sunni Muslim Gulf states which support the exiled government against the Shi'ite Houthis allied to Iran.
The Houthis took over the capital Sanaa in September and President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi fled to Aden in February before leaving for Saudi Arabia as Houthi forces closed in on the city.
Loyalist fighters backed by air strikes from a Saudi-led Arab alliance wrested Aden, Yemen's main port, from the Houthis last week.
The foreign intervention and war raging across the country have killed over 3,600 people. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
