- Story Text: A Turkish police officer was shot and killed and another wounded on Thursday (July 23) in the mainly Kurdish city of Diyarbakir.
The shooting is the latest in a series of attacks that began with a suicide bombing blamed on Islamic State, security sources said.
It occurred in the centre of Diyarbakir, and came a day after two police officers were killed in an attack in Ceylanpinar on the Syrian border.
In a separate incident on Thursday, a Turkish soldier was killed and another wounded in clashes with Islamic State across the Syrian border.
Militants from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) have claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attack.
Authorities said a 20-year-old Turkish citizen with links to Islamic State blew himself up on Monday (July 20) in the town of Suruc, about 160 km from Ceylanpinar, killing 32 people and wounding more than 100 others.
The victims included Kurds. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
