  • Story Text: The Mexican national team trained in Lima, Peru on Monday (June 1), ahead of the Copa America tournament that will be held in Chile from June 11 to July 4.
    Coached by Miguel Herrera, the team faces Peru on Wednesday (June 3) at the National Stadium in LIma for the first of two more pre-tournament friendlies.
    On Saturday, the team beat Guatemala 3-0 in a friendly with two goals from striker Eduardo Herrera.
    As further warm-up before travelling to Chile, Mexico will play a friendly in Sao Paulo on Sunday against giants Brazil.
    Striker Raul Jimenez, who plays for Atletico Madrid, was confident and predicted the team would do well.
    "Good, we'll play in the best way and give the best of ourselves," he said.
    Tri captain Rafael Marquez did not attend training but is expected to arrive from Mexico later in the day.
    Mexico is in Group A with hosts Chile, Bolivia and Ecuador.
