  • Story Text: The who's who in fashion came out to honour the best in the industry at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York on Monday (June 1).
    Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye West had all eyes on them as the couple made their first official public appearance since announcing they are expecting baby number two.
    Veteran designer Diane von Furstenberg is the president of the organization which is home to more than 400 American designers.
    "The CFDA is an organization that is made exclusively of designers. And it's designers that help and support other designers. So it's very unique and very nice."
    This year the council, made up of women's wear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers, honoured Betsey Johnson with its Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.
    The New York based designer said she is beyond honoured to be recognized by the CFDA.
    "It's a different - oh, I love to see all the beautiful people," she said interrupting herself to take a peek at all the celebrities arriving.
    "It's a real grown up honour for me. I am grown up, but it's like," she concluded.
    Johnson listed the three things she needs to celebrate after the ceremony.
    "Find my bottle of champagne and friends and relax after the speech, which I left at home. I need my speech," she said with a smile.
    Musician Pharrell will be given the Fashion Icon trophy at the ceremony.
    Among the nominees this year are Alexander Wang for accessories designer of the year and double nominees in the women's wear and accessories designers of the year category, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Tom Ford was nominated in the menswear designer of the year category.
    The evening is a chance for Hollywood stars to mingle with fashion stars. Women's wear designer of the year nominee Michael Kors arrived with actress Juilanna Margulies and designer Richard Chai walked the carpet with signer Joe Jonas. Actress Katie Holmes hit the carpet solo wearing a Ralph Lauren dress.
    Zac Posen hit the red carpet with Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke's teenaged daughter, Mya.
    "Mya and I chose the dress together. I thought it was appropriate and right, Mya is 16, this is her first red carpet alone. And it was right, it was ethereal, floral, it's from my new resort collection coming out," said Posen, taking a departure from his normal structured looks.
    This year's show was hosted by British comedian James Corden.
