- Story Text: It was a "boy's night out" as the stars of the much-anticipated big-screen version of the award-winning hit HBO series "Entourage," reunited on the red carpet for the film's premiere in Los Angeles on Monday night (June 01).
The hit show's original cast, led by Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven were all there, lending a family feel to the star studded event.
"These are a group of guys who are my surrogate brothers and it is a family reunion," said Grenier, who looked every bit the movie idol he plays in the film. "I couldn't wait to come back and hang with the family."
In "Entourage," Grenier plays Hollywood star Vincent Chase and together with his boys, Eric (Connolly), Turtle (Ferrara) and Johnny (Dillon), are back…and back in business with super agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Piven). Some of their ambitions have changed, but the bond between them remains strong as they navigate the capricious and often cutthroat world of Hollywood.
Mark Wahlberg, who served as executive producer on the series, which is based loosely on his early film career, said the transition to the big screen just made sense.
"It is really a tribute to all the people who made the show such a success, the fans made the show a success," said Wahlberg. "They always complained that the show was cut to short and the episodes were too short. I always felt like it was teed up for a movie."
Jeremy Piven told Reuters that he was always confident that the film would get made, despite some delays that had taken place.
"I read the script and said count me in," said Piven, who plays agent Ari Gold. "As to the rest of it I let it fall into place. I heard that there was some interesting things during the navigating process but I am glad that we are here."
Directed by Doug Ellin, the film also stars Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment along with other returning cast members.
