- Story Text: Two thousand of children from Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries were dancing their hearts out in Bishkek during the first in the region International Dance Olympiad.
Dance groups and solo performers are competing in several nominations ranging from classic ballroom and traditional national dances to R&B, reggae, burlesque, jazz funk and other contemporary styles. There is also a special nomination 'Para Dance' for participants with physical disabilities.
The competition was organised with the support of the government of Kyrgyz Republic and is approved by International Dance Organization. The organiser Tatyana Kuznetsova expressed hope that Olympiad would become an annual event.
"We have more than 2,000 participants, it is pretty good for first time. We are planning to hold this event annually and attract not only five countries, but around 20-40 countries like the Moscow (Dance) Olympiad does," she said.
According to the organisers, the competition's aim is to promote spiritual perfection and healthy lifestyle.
Trainers, who accompanied young participants in Bishkek, praised the contest.
"We wish our children victory. If only contests like these were held more often, children would progress. It is needed for our children's development. We are happy that we managed to attend this competition. Thanks to the organizers of the competition!" said children dance group's trainer Svetlana.
The winners will get a chance to compete in the World Dance Cup, which will take place in the USA in 2017. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
