- Story Text: Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday (June 2). Putin greeted the head of Slovak government and shook hands with the delegation members.
The two leaders went on to talk about the development of relations of the two countries.
Earlier Fico discussed the construction of the Turkish stream gas pipeline with Russia's Prime-Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
According to Itar-Tass news agency, Slovak prime minister suggested that Russia took part in the joint project with Slovakia, Bolgaria, Romania, Hungary and the European Union.
Russia started working on the Turkish Stream project after it abruptly abandoned the South Stream project in December 2014, citing objections from Europe.
Russia's Gazprom plans to supply up to 63 billion cubic metres (bcm) of gas per year via Turkish stream and create a gas hub on the Turkish border with Greece, through which it wants to transit 47 bcm annually into countries in southern Europe.
According to Itar-Tass, the Fico also discussed with Kremlin the modernisation of Mi-17 helicopters and S-300 long range surface-to-air missiles in his country. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
