- Story Text: Russia tops the medals list at the European Games in Baku at the end of Tuesday (June 16) with 22, 12 of them gold.
Second is hosts Azerbaijan with an impressive 19 medals, eight gold.
Russia's athletes received applause and praise when they were presented at the Russia House team base in Baku on Tuesday evening.
In Artistic Gymnastics Russia took gold in both the men and women's team event. There were four in the synchronised swimming, including the team and free combination events, solo for Anisiya Neborako, and duet for Valeriya Filenkova and Daria Kulagina.
The other six Russian gold medals were in wrestling.
Neborako was feted with the other winning athletes. She said that she hoped Russia could keep up this level of success.
