- Story Text: Russian President Vladimir Putin led a memorial ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin Wall on Monday (June 22), laying a wreath in memory of World War Two victims.
The ceremony marked the 74th anniversary of the Nazi troops invasion of the Soviet Union.
Putin was joined by Russia's other highest officials, including Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of State Duma Sergei Naryshkin and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu.
People across Russia lit memory candles to commemorate the anniversary.
On June 22, 1941, forces of Nazi Germany and its allies launched an invasion of the Soviet Union and started nearly four years of war that killed more than 20 million Soviet citizens. - Copyright Holder: POOL (CAN SELL)
