Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti said on Friday (November 5) he believed that Liverpool have overcome their season-starting problems and their future will be fantastic -- after his side meets them on Sunday.
Chelsea lead the Premier League on 25 points, five clear of Manchester United and Arsenal, while Liverpool, after a change of bosses, languish in 13th with 12 points.
However, Ancelotti said on Friday that the Liverpool team now is not the same as that of last season, especially after coming from behind to win Thursday's Europa League match against Napoli 3-1 thanks to a hat trick from substitute Steve Gerrard.
"You have to play against different team because, but, they change the manager, they had some problem from the beginning of the season, now they move on of the problem and they won the last three games. We have to think that it's one of the best team in England. There will be a fantastic atmosphere there. They will have the support of their fans.
"I think to win there we have to do our best. It's not enough to play 90 per cent, we have to play 100 per cent to win there I'm sure. Because now Gerrard is in fantastic condition. This victory for them was very important to improve their confidence. So for this reason we have to be ready to fight and to stay in focus for all the game," said the Chelsea boss.
Ancelotti said every coach faced tough times occasionally, but it was being able to move on that counted and Liverpool had done this.
"I think that everyone, coaches, had bad moment in his career. It's important moment because you can, if you are able to move on the bad moment, you can improve your relationship with the squad and this is very important. If you're not able to move, you break and it will be a very bad season. But if you are able to move and I think that Liverpool moved on this bad moment, their future -- after this game -- will be fantastic," said Ancelotti.
Chelsea's Florent Malouda has made a surprise recovery rom a twisted ankle and is available for the match against Liverpool on Sunday (1600) having sat out Wednesday's Champions League victory over Spartak Moscow.
The French winger will battle with Salomon Kalou, two away from 50 goals for Chelsea, for a starting spot. Midfielder Michael Essien should recover from a toe problem to play.
Chelsea's Yossi Benayoun and Liverpool's Joe Cole, who both switched clubs in the close season, are unavailable for the fixture having been ruled out by injuries.
