Not that I hope other films that I've done are exclusively for women. But it's really balanced about men and women. And it's R-rated, so we get to do and say things that are a little more true-to-life, and a little less sort of pure and fairytale-ish. It's much more realistic. It's what we really go through in life. (Justin Long: Yeah. It's more, it's more brown bunny than house bunny. What do you think? Anyone?") God. How does it work? How does it work?" (SOUNDBITE) (English) JIMMY FALLON ON WHY DREW BARRYMORE IS GOOD AT ROMANTIC COMEDIES, SAYING: "She's the best, 'cause she's like America's sweetheart, you know. You just love to see her in situations and how she gets out of them and you want her to fall in love in the end. She's the best at it." The work ethic is a bit more professional, I think, because we've been doing it for so long." On every idea that I had they said yes to. They didn't shoot down anything. I wrote actually too much stuff. They actually had to tone me down. They're like, 'You know we have to give out awards.' I go, 'Oh, I guess so, yeah." (SOUNDBITE) (English) DREW BARRYMORE AND JUSTIN LONG ON WORKING TOGETHER, SAYING: "I find him incredibly charming and humorous, and I didn't have to fake that. So that was convenient. (Justin Long: Yeah. It was very easy. It was all there. No work.) None whatsoever." CAST PHOTO MOVIE POSTER AND PULL-OUT TO DREW BARRYMORE AND JUSTIN LONG TALKING TO THE MEDIA

- Story Text: Actress Drew Barrymore hit the red carpet with her on-again-off-again boyfriend Justin Long for the Hollywood premiere of the new romantic comedy "Going The Distance." The two portray a man and a woman who face the challenges of keeping a dating relationship alive while living on different U.S. coasts.
Barrymore plays a waitress named Erin, who meets a newly-single Garrett, who is played by Long. The two meet in a bar and have a summer fling that lasts until Erin must fly home to San Francisco. Living more than 3,000 miles apart puts their new love to the test.
The two talked about how the film is different from similar big-screen tales of dealing with major obstacles to achieve success in love.
"This one I think is unique because it's not a chick flick," explained Barrymore. "Not that I hope other films that I've done are exclusively for women. But it's really balanced about men and women. And it's R-rated, so we get to do and say things that are a little more true-to-life, and a little less sort of pure and fairytale-ish. It's much more realistic. It's what we really go through in life."
"Yeah. It's more, it's more brown bunny than house bunny," added Long, 32. "What do you think? Anyone?"
"God. How does it work? How does it work?," laughed Barrymore.
Comedian and talk show host Jimmy Fallon was one of the guests who walked the red carpet ahead of the screening. Fallon, who co-starred with Barrymore in the 2005 film "Fever Pitch" and then "Whip It" in 2009 (which was also directed by Barrymore) talked about why the 35-year-old actress is such a natural in romantic comedies.
"She's the best, 'cause she's like America's sweetheart, you know. You just love to see her in situations and how she gets out of them and you want her to fall in love in the end. She's the best at it."
Fallon is also married to Barrymore's producing partner, Nancy Juvonen.
Christina Applegate, who portrays Barrymore's sister in "Going The Distance" shared why the actress is so good both in front of and behind the camera.
"I think, you know, because she's grown up in this business, as have I, we have a different work ethic than I think a lot of these young folk that are kind of doing it now, and being big stars now," shared the 38-year-old actress. "The work ethic is a bit more professional, I think, because we've been doing it for so long."
Applegate is pregnant with her third child. The father is her fiance, Martyn LeNoble, a Dutch musician.
Barrymore also talked about why she enjoyed working opposite Long in the film.
"I find him incredibly charming and humorous, and I didn't have to fake that. So that was convenient."
The 32-year-old actor agreed.
"Yeah. It was very easy. It was all there. No work."
Long is familiar to many for his acting work in the Apple computer "Get A Mac" television campaign which ran from 2006 to 2009.
Meanwhile, the chatter on the red carpet was not solely about the upcoming film. Most reporters also asked Fallon about his upcoming gig hosting the 2010 Emmys.
The former "Saturday Night Live" star, 35, described the experience of helping write the script for the popular awards show.
"They have been so easy. It's so fun to work with the Academy. On every idea that I had they said yes to. They didn't shoot down anything. I wrote actually too much stuff. They actually had to tone me down. They're like, 'You know we have to give out awards.' I go, 'Oh, I guess so, yeah."
The Emmy Awards will take place Sunday, August 29th.
Veteran actors Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis, along with newcomer Oliver Jackson-Cohen, also starred in the film.
"Going The Distance" was directed by documentary filmmaker Nanette Burstein.
British actress Kate Beckinsale and her husband American film director Len Wiseman also attended the premiere. Beckinsale did not stop to talk to reporters.
"Going The Distance" will open in theatres across North America on September 3, 2010. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
