- Story Text: In a rare public appearance, Michael Jackson's children - Prince, Paris and Blanket - attended a ceremony at Children's Hospital Los Angeles on Monday (August 08). Accompanied by Jackson's mother Katherine and sister La Toya, the children were on hand to honor the donation of 10 pieces of art that will be on exhibit at the hospital.
The pieces were created and signed by Jackson and were a gift from the personal collection of Brett-Livingstone Strong, an artist and Jackson family friend.
"I know that Michael wouldn't want this art in a better place, than a hospital like this that will help children, and people everywhere," explained La Toya Jackson.
"I'm so proud that these pieces are here to help those who need it."
During the private ceremony, the children sat next to their grandmother and at times took turns holding her hand.
"Part of healing for a child is doing children's things, and that's about laughing, it's about seeing pretty things, it's about seeing things that are entertaining, we very much believe in 'I Spy,' and when the children look at Michael's art, they will be able to see more things," said Mary Dee Hacker, Vice President for patient care services and chief nursing officer at the hospital.
"It's not just a chair, they'll see a crowd, they'll see Bubbles' face, they'll see little pieces of jewelry, it's a very delightful style, and very delightful for Children's Hospital of Los Angeles," said Hacker.
The art will eventually be placed at locations throughout the hospital. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
