- Story Text: American comedian Paul Reiser is getting in touch with his musical side and has recently released his first album.
Reiser, famous as a stand-up comic and star of the 1990s popular sitcom "Mad About You," where he starred opposite Helen Hunt, now has a new collaborator, British singer/songwriter Julia Fordham. The pair's album of duets, "Unusual Suspects," has Reiser accompanying vocalist Fordham on piano.
Reiser is no stranger to music, as he studied classical piano and learned piano composition, even pursuing it in college
"I started in music, went into comedy, continuing in comedy but I wanted to drag Julia's career down," joked Reiser. "I thought she was doing so well, why not sully the water."
Although Fordham had her doubts about working with an actor and admitted to Google searching Reiser and even contacting other friends before ever meeting to make a song, she is excited about the new project they now share. In fact, Fordham sees this new project as a turn in her career and a new opportunity to work with a partner.
"So, I've been quite delighted and excited by the collaboration with Paul because I need someone to talk to and to bounce ideas off and have someone who is bringing something and meeting me because I don't need to have that experience again with me, myself, I show" explained Fordham.
Both music lovers are particularly pleased by the fact that the project, which started as an unplanned jam session evolved into a complete album. The album features ten original compositions, written by Fordham and composed by Reiser.
Reiser is currently preparing for the release of his semi-autobiographical TV comedy series, "The Paul Reiser Show", starring himself.
