- Story Text: Iranians speak out on Sunday (March 25) after the UN Security Council toughened sanctions on Tehran for refusing to halt sensitive nuclear work.
"I think that America and the UN Security Council sanctions against Iran are not important, because nuclear energy is our legitimate right and no country can deprive us of it," Ali Rouzgar, an Iranian citizen told Reuters.
An female engineer also expressed her belief that it is Iran's right to have nuclear power.
"As a Iranian, I believe they should withdraw their sanctions against us because the use of nuclear energy is our obvious right. Why can those countries (Western countries) use nuclear energy? So we can use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes."
The 15-nation Security Council unanimously imposed arms and financial sanctions on Iran after the Islamic Republic defied a previous resolution ordering it to suspend enrichment and the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel.
