Summary:The crash of a British Comet airliner into the Mediterranean in October remained a mystery. The disaster cost the lives of all 66 passengers and crew. Fifty-one bodies were recovered and taken ashore at the Greek island of Rhodes. A BEA investigation team was trying to find out whether the Comet exploded in mid-air, or after it plunged into the sea. The question of sabotage was not ruled out.
