- Story Text: Germany, United Kingdom, Spain, France and Norway joined forces for a concert on the Norwegian fjord on Tuesday (May 25).
"I am going on a small trip on my boat," Spain's Daniel Diges said as he arrived for the event.
UK's Josh kicked off the show with his song, "That sounds good to me". Josh is hopeful his song, created by British music legend Peter Waterman will do well in Saturday's Eurovision final. Josh said it is a lottery who wins, so the British group are just taking in the whole experience.
"Its been a brilliant experience so far and I haven't even done the, you know the final rehearsals or anything like that. So I have had the best time and I have got all my team behind me as well and we are all enjoying ourselves loads," said Josh.
It was an overcast and chilly day on the fjord of Oslo on Tuesday, but France's Jessy Matador had the audience dancing with his summer hit, "Allez Olla Ol Tout le monde!". He hopes his catchy tune will heat up the Telenor arena at Saturday's final.
"It is to create a good atmosphere at the Eurovision contest. I am a little uncertain as to how we will be welcomed, but I hope for the maximum amount of points and I am mostly here to enjoy myself," Jessy Matador said.
"We are first and foremost here to give a great performance and to represent France in the way we are expected to," he added.
Germany, UK, Spain, France and hosts Norway are automatically qualified for Saturday's final and could enjoy a couple of hours at sea on Tuesday, while 17 countries, including Finland, Greece, Estonia, Slovakia, Serbia, Portugal and Iceland have to compete in the first round of semi-finals later in the day. Ten of the 17 representatives will go through to the final.
One of the favourites this year is 19-year-old Lena Meyer-Landrut from Germany with her song "Satellite".
Meyer-Landrut, who is right in the middle of preparing for her high school exams, won the German national final with the song "Satellite" which she will be performing at the final on Saturday May 29, just after her 19th birthday.
But she said she didn't consider herself one of the favourites.
"Eh, I don't see myself as a favourite, so everything is cool, and no stress," said Meyer-Landrut, who wore a typically Norwegian skating hat for the occasion.
Meyer-Landrut has stage fright, but hopes to conquer her nerves on Saturday's event televised to an estimated 125 million people across the world.
"Actually I don't know that yet, but I am trying to calm down and to be not that nervous," she said.
Spain's Daniel Diges was freezing in his thick winter coat, on a typical early summer day in Oslo. Diges is a well-known musical actor in Spain, and according to the Eurovision bio competing in the competition is a childhood dream. He says the whole Eurovision experience has been a dream.
"This wasn't what I had planned for my life, but this year I reached the sky with this song and it has been a dream," Diges, who charmed his audience with a double act said.
The contestants sailed on Christian Radich one of Norway's oldest, biggest and most famous full-rigged sail ships.
The contest has been broadcast without interruption every year since 1956, which makes it one of the longest-running television programmes in the world. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
