- Story Text: A mural depicting Ennio Morricone, the Oscar-winning Italian composer who died aged 91 on Monday (July 6), has appeared in the Trastevere district of Rome a day after his death.
Morricone, whose haunting scores to Spaghetti Westerns like "A Fistful of Dollars" and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" helped define a cinematic era, broke his femur 10 before his death at dawn in a clinic in Rome.
The mural by street artist Harry Greb depicts Morricone wearing a shining halo and holding an Oscar, with a finger by his mouth making a "be quiet" sign.
Morricone was born in Rome in 1928 and has worked in almost all film genres - from horror to comedy. Some of his melodies are perhaps more famous than the films he wrote them for.
His family have already held a private funeral.
