- Story Text: Thai health officers are travelling by boat to take care of COVID-19 patients in remote communities on the outskirts of Thailand's capital on Monday (July 19), as the country struggles to tackle its worst outbreak to date.
Public health officers in Samut Prakan province don personal protective suits (PPE) suits first, before navigating through small canals to provide daily tests on COVID-19 patients isolating in a remote village.
"Some areas of the village can't be accessed by land, so we need to travel by boat or raft to check on COVID-19 patients," said public health officer Charoenrat Chaibut, who has also been conducting nose and mouth swab tests for other villagers.
About ten percent of 60 households in the village were infected with COVID-19. Thailand reported on Monday 11,784 new cases, the fourth consecutive day of record infections.
