- Story Text: Moscow said on Thursday (December 29) night the country will give an adequate response after the United States ordered the expulsion of Russian diplomats.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday (December 30) U.S. diplomatic staff will be banned from using the diplomatic residence and a warehouse in the Russian capital.
He also suggested that an equal number of American diplomats will be sent out of Russia.
The American media had previously quoted unnamed sources as saying the Kremlin would also close an Anglo-American school in Moscow, where many diplomats' children receive education. However, foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova denied that.
U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday ordered the expulsion of 35 Russian suspected spies and imposed sanctions on two Russian intelligence agencies over their involvement in hacking U.S. political groups in the 2016 presidential election. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
