- Story Text:Dusty Hill, the bassist for rock group ZZ Top, has died, according to a statement by his bandmates.
Posting on the ZZ Top official website, bandmates Frank Beard and Billy Gibbons wrote "We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill has passed away in his sleep at his home in Houston, TX."
They added "We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature, and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the 'Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C.' You will be missed greatly, amigo."
An official cause of death was not given on the website.
ZZ Top are best known for their hits 'Gimme All Your Lovin'', 'Sharp Dressed Man' and 'Legs', as well as their long beards.
The band has sold around 50 million albums worldwide.
