- Story Text: Grammy Award winner Billie Eilish put out her second album "Happier Than Ever" on Friday (July 30), with critics giving the highly-anticipated record the thumbs up.
Two years after the release of her chart-topping debut "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?", the 19-year-old American singer said she "love(s) every song" on her new record, on which she once again collaborated with her brother Finneas.
"I can't even process it. This was the most fulfilling most satisfying and profound experience I've ever had with my music," Eilish said in an Instagram post.
"Finneas and I were just on cloud 9 making this album I feel... I love every song on this project so so much it literally scares me thinking about putting it out into the world for anyone to listen to. I feel like crying."
Eilish had already released singles including "Your Power" from the album, which got mainly positive reviews from critics.
"Though it's unlikely that her place among their ranks was ever in doubt anyway, 'Happier Than Ever' fully establishes Billie Eilish as one of her generation's most significant pop artists - and, better still, does so without repeating a single track from the debut that turned her life upside down," music website NME said.
Britain's Guardian newspaper gave the album four out of five stars.
"The melodies and vocals are uniformly great; writing about the pressure of fame in a way that elicits a response other than a yawn is an extremely tough trick to pull off, and 'Happier Than Ever' does it with aplomb," reviewer Alexis Petridis wrote.
"And listening to its grimmer lyrical moments, you wonder if an album that dials down her celebrity slightly would be such a bad thing if Billie Eilish is in it for the long haul, which 'Happier Than Ever' strongly suggests she is."
It will be at the weekend that album chart positions will be known.
